Why donate to MAPS Group?

0Rating:

The Mid-Atlantic Primitive Skills (MAPS) Group’s vision is to reconnect people to Nature and the ancient technologies that have brought us out of the past to where we are today.  Our hope is, by doing this, that we awaken a new understanding of mankind’s interconnectedness with Nature.

Join us in this vision.

You might be asking… why donate to the MAPS Group?

Trust me you are not the only person who feels uneasy about donating or doing something good, because you think about all the "What if's..."

If you want to help something you believe in, lend a hand by donating funds or contribute your expertise, or go on a habitat-for-humanity trip to help build homes for the less fortunate in different countries, whatever it is, just do it. Never be held back by thinking "what if I can't be of some help" or "I don't know what my money is being used for." If you have worries, then research an answer, find out what YOU WANT to do, or what YOU WANT done. Once you know, look for that wherever you can, whether its on the internet, in a newspaper, or an infomercial on TV. Find what you want to do and DO IT!

We chose MAPS GROUP... With the MAPS Group, you decide if it is worth supporting.

So, if MAPS Group is your thing then here are the basic answers to why.

First, the MAPS Coordinator cannot be expected to privately finance the MAPS Group website and regular events without just compensation.

The MAPS Coordinator spends time, energy, and very real dollars on making each of the events happen.  And here on the web, the costs to do all the tech stuff are also much greater than zero.

But that's OK.  primitive skills are a passion with us.

We're using a primitive model of commerce called trading, the principal facility of prehistoric people who bartered what they had for goods and services from each other. We are exchanging our time and energy supporting the MAPS Group for a few little pictures of dead Presidents, so we can continue to provide the good quality goods and services to MAPS members.

We cannot resist adding a primitive skills educational note here: Historian Peter Watson dates the history of long-distance commerce around 150,000 years ago in his book Ideas: A History of Thought and Invention from Fire to Freud.

One day the current MAPS Coordinator will pass the buck to the next enthusiastic coordinator and on that day if the group is not financially stable or the coordinator is not, well, as passionate as his predecessor... poof... it's gone!

After all, we are only doing this to get the good news of primitive technologies and our connection to Nature spread around far and wide… it’s what we do. It is our passion, no our OBSESSION!

Second, there is no other income source now that MAPS Meet, our original and only previous source of limited income, is owned by another organization. There may be time in the future for another version of MAPS Meet, but for the time being there stands a gap in funds for that to happen.

If this is something YOU want, you need to donate now!

Last,
if the MAPS Group is to survive it must have a robust, dedicated and active membership willing to give, among other things, their financial support.

After all that if you still want to donate, you can here.

And, if you have issues using PayPal, we hope you will consider writing a check so that 100% of your contribution goes to support our MAPS Group.

You can send us your donation via snail mail:
